Healthy Eating - 5 Reasons Why Dieting Does Not Work Long Term

Dieting requires an immediate change in the food we consume and an increase in exercise. When we have an immediate change in a regular pattern, it becomes exciting for a day or even a week, then when the excitement wears off we gradually move back to old habits.
Despite what we hear on Television or in Magazines, Losing weight is not about eating certain foods for a given number of days or eating only meat or only cabbage. The body requires a broad spectrum of nutrients to sustain full function of all body organs.
Changing the food we eat will not have a great deal of change on your weight without an increase in physical exercise. The same applies if we increase exercise in an attempt to lose weight but fail to change our eating habits in the process.

Diet product manufacturers want you to keep going back to lose more weight. It makes good business sense not focusing 100% on the biggest way you can keep weight off after losing it. Dieting focuses on processes required to reduce weight The Misguided belief that losing weight has a start and an end date. Weight loss starts with the decision to improve your health and lifestyle. Dieting focuses only on the act of losing weight. I read a lot of articles online that focus on dieting and not on nutrition. I rarely find information that focuses on lifestyle changes geared at improving health. Lifestyle changes require a commitment to improving our health. Rather than focusing on losing weight, we need to focus on improving our health through lifestyle changes.

Start slow. Replace unhealthy foods for healthy versions. Reduce portion size and increase your physical activity. Increase Antioxidant-rich foods or supplement if required to assist in eliminating toxins. The important thing to remember is there is no end date to healthy lifestyle improvements. Weight loss is a byproduct of improved nutrition intake and increased physical activity. Be passionate about your decision to improve your health. Get excited by a bowl full of salad and angry at the fat dripping off a pizza. It's a change in mindset that will shed the kilos, not a demanding diet structure. Eric J.
